National Anthem

Tonight's Giants/Cincinnati game was also the fifth annual LGBT Night With the Giants.

So, logically, the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band were invited to play the national anthem while the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco sang it.

I am not a fan of organized sports in general or of baseball. I've been to two Giants games ever -- one in Candlestick Park, and one in Pacbell / SBC / AT&T Park. They both bored me to tears.

On the other hand, there is at least a little bit of bragging rights in being able to say you've done this. I can say that I have played music (legitimately as a part of a musical program for which people paid for tickets to see) in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Herbst Theater and Davies Symphony Hall (but never, alas, the War Memorial Opera House). And now I can say that I've been on the field at P/S/A Park and played the national anthem.

Slowly but surely, I'm hitting all the San Francisco landmarks.

(As always, clicking on these pictures makes them much, much bigger.)

I was so there, man. But like a good lesbo, I LIKE baseball. That was a GOOD game, even though they choked. I'm also a Cubs fan so this was not an unusual feeling.
