Sir Terry Pratchett

"Discworld" author Terry Pratchett is among those in the New Years Honours List. As of tomorrow, he will be Sir Terry Pratchett.

Both the BBC and the Times quote him as saying,
“There are times when phrases such as ‘totally astonished’ just don’t do the job. I am of course delighted and honoured and, needless to say, flabbergasted.”

just read that his stroke of a few years ago was not a stroke, but rare form of early onset Alzheimer's. aw man. i'm guessing you knew this already, though.

That was mentioned in both articles, but I didn't mention it here because I assumed that it was relatively common knowledge.

If you don't follow Boing Boing, here's another reason to: There seem to be some fairly big fans of Pterry's over there, so any news about him tends to show up on Boing Boing relatively quickly. I think that's where I first saw the story about early Alzheimer's, several months ago.
