The Fillmore (Part 1 - Indigo Girls)

Tuesday, July 21

We went to see Indigo Girls at the Fillmore for the first time... well, since the last time we saw them at the Fillmore.

The Girls are off the label and independently producing themselves (again).

I believe I read on Facebook that Emily was a little under the weather for a few days preceding the show, and she did seem a bit low energy.

But Chip said that it was comforting to see them again after several years, like seeing an old friend.

The opening band, Common Rotation, was a very decent band, and theatrical enough to make them interesting to watch. Their special surprise was two-fold -- first, they did a cover of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" (from "Slumdog Millionaire"), and second, John di Maggio (the voice of Bender and others on "Futurama") joined them for this song, doing human beatbox and sound effects. Amy came out to join them for a couple of numbers, and they came out to join the Girls for their encore.
