Monty Python News

Via BBC News:

Eric Idle and John Du Prez, who together wrote the music and lyrics for "Spamalot" (the musical based on the film, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), have written an oratorio based on the film, "Monty Python's Life Of Brian." The title of the oratorio is "Not the Messiah (He's a Very Naughty Boy)," and it has been performed a number of times in cities around the world since 2007.

The oratorio will be performed as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the premiere of the television show, "Monty Python's Flying Circus." Four of the surviving five cast members are reuniting for one night only to perform the oratorio at the Royal Albert Hall on October 23, 2009. John Cleese has declined to perform, but Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam have all signed onto the project.

In other Python news, a six-episode documentary called, "Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut)" will be broadcast in the US in October, followed by a DVD release soon afterward.

"
'This is a documentary I always hoped that would be made - something so complete and so faithful to the truth that I don't need to watch it,' said [Terry] Jones."
